CHAPTER 01 · CANNABINOIDS

THC vs. CBD.

Cannabis plants produce 100+ compounds called cannabinoids. Two of them do most of the heavy lifting. Here’s the cheat sheet.

TETRAHYDROCANNABINOL
THC
The one that gets you high.

THC binds to CB1 receptors in your brain. That’s what creates the head-buzz, hunger, time-dilation, euphoria, occasional anxiety, and the giggles. It’s the cannabinoid that makes cannabis cannabis.

What it does
  • Euphoria & relaxation
  • Increased appetite
  • Altered perception
  • Pain relief
  • Drowsiness or energy (strain-dependent)
  • Possible anxiety at high doses
Legal status · Federally illegal. CA legal at 21+.
CANNABIDIOL
CBD
Calms without the high.

CBD doesn’t bind CB1, so it doesn’t get you high. It modulates other receptors involved in inflammation, anxiety, and pain. People take CBD for chronic conditions, anxiety, recovery, and sleep — often paired with low-dose THC.

What it does
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Reduced anxiety
  • Better sleep
  • Pain modulation
  • Anti-seizure (rare cases)
  • Generally non-impairing
Legal status · Federally legal if hemp-derived (<0.3% THC).
THE RATIO MATTERS

Most products mix both. Here’s how to read the label.

20:1 CBD:THC
All calm, no buzz
Anxiety, sleep, daytime focus
5:1 CBD:THC
Light edge, low body
New users, social settings
1:1
Balanced, manageable
Pain w/ focus, daytime relief
1:20 CBD:THC
Classic high
Recreation, nighttime relief
CHAPTER 02 · TERPENES

WHY SMELL MATTERS.

Terpenes are aromatic oils. They’re what makes lemons smell like lemons and pine smell like pine — and they’re a big part of how a strain actually feels.

Two strains can have identical THC percentages and feel completely different. The reason is almost always terpenes. They shape mood, sedation, energy, and even where in the body you feel the effects. Read the terpene profile, not just the THC number.

Myrcene
Also found in
Mango, hops, thyme
Smells like
Earthy, musky, ripe
What it does
Sedating. The ‘couch lock’ terpene. Found in most indicas.
Limonene
Also found in
Citrus peels, juniper
Smells like
Lemon, orange, bright
What it does
Mood lift, anti-anxiety. Common in sativas.
Pinene
Also found in
Pine needles, rosemary
Smells like
Forest, sharp, green
What it does
Focus, alertness. Counters short-term memory loss from THC.
Caryophyllene
Also found in
Black pepper, cloves
Smells like
Spicy, warm, peppery
What it does
Anti-inflammatory. Only terpene that binds CB2 receptors.
Linalool
Also found in
Lavender, mint
Smells like
Floral, soft, sweet
What it does
Calming, mood-balancing. Used in aromatherapy for centuries.
Humulene
Also found in
Hops, basil, ginger
Smells like
Earthy, hoppy, woody
What it does
Anti-inflammatory. May suppress appetite (yes, really).
The entourage effect
This is the theory that all of cannabis’s compounds — cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids — work better together than isolated. It’s why full-spectrum products feel different from THC distillate.
CHAPTER 03 · STRAIN TYPES

INDICA · SATIVA · HYBRID.

The old classification system. Useful as a starting point — not a hard rule. The terpene profile is more predictive than the label.

INDICA
“In-da-couch.”

Heavy, sedating, body-focused. Best for evenings, sleep, pain, anxiety wind-down.

Best when
After work · before bed · sore body
Our picks
SATIVA
Energy & uplift.

Cerebral, energizing, head-focused. Best for daytime, creativity, social, exercise, focus.

Best when
Morning · creative work · hikes
Our picks
HYBRID
Whatever the breeder wanted.

Most modern strains are hybrids. Effects depend on the specific cross. Read the terpene profile.

Best when
Anytime · varies wildly
Our picks
Heads up: Modern research suggests indica/sativa labels predict effects less than terpene profiles do. Use them as a starting point, but trust your nose.
CHAPTER 04 · METHODS

HOW YOU TAKE IT
CHANGES IT.

Same plant, six common methods, six totally different experiences. Pick by how fast you want it, how long it lasts, and how discrete you need to be.

CHAPTER 05 · DOSING

START LOW.
GO SLOW.

Especially for edibles. Cannabis won’t kill you, but a too-big dose can put you in your bed for six uncomfortable hours.

EDIBLE DOSEOMETER
5mg
Low
New users, daytime
1 mg50 mg100 mg
The starter rules.
  1. 01
    2.5 mg if you’re new

Take it on a quiet evening, no plans. Wait 90 minutes before redosing.

  2. 02
    Wait 2 hours before redosing

Edibles peak slowly. Many over-doses start with ‘this isn’t working’ at minute 45.

  3. 03
    Eat something first

Empty stomach = faster, stronger, less predictable hit. A small meal helps.

  4. 04
    Mark the wrapper

Most gummies are 10mg. Cut it. Write the dose on the package.

  5. 05
    Don’t mix with alcohol

Especially for new users. Alcohol amplifies the effects unpredictably.

  6. 06
    If you get too high

Drink water. Eat something. Lie down. Call us if it gets weird — we’ve talked many folks off many ledges. (760) 903-4507.

CHAPTER 06 · FIRST TIME

FIRST TIME?
HERE’S THE PLAYBOOK.

01
Bring your ID

21+, valid, any state. We’ll scan it once. That’s it.

02
Tell us it’s your first time

We’ll slow down. Show you the case. Walk you through it. No judgment, no rush.

03
Start with low-THC, high-CBD

A 5:1 CBD:THC tincture or a 2.5mg edible. You’ll feel something. Not a lot.

04
Use it somewhere comfortable

Your couch. A friend’s place. Not a concert, not a first date, not a long drive.

05
Eat before

Especially edibles. Not on an empty stomach.

06
Don’t mix

Alcohol, prescriptions — let your first time be just cannabis.

07
Hydrate

Water, not coffee. Dry mouth is the most common side effect.

08
Have an exit plan

You can’t un-take it. If you get too high, lie down, breathe, eat, wait. It passes.

CHAPTER 08 · FAQ

Things people actually ask.

Will I fail a drug test from CBD?+
Maybe. Even ‘broad spectrum’ CBD can contain trace THC. If you’re tested at work, talk to your HR before any cannabis product.
Can I drive after smoking?+
No. It’s a DUI in CA. Wait at least 4 hours for flower, 8+ for edibles. We’ll happily call you a ride.
Does THC content matter?+
Some — higher = stronger by weight. But a 22% strain rich in caryophyllene can hit harder for pain than a 32% strain of straight myrcene. Trust the profile.
What is ‘dispensary’ vs ‘recreational’ vs ‘medical’?+
We’re both — adult-use (recreational) AND medical. Same shop. We sell to anyone 21+ with valid ID.
Can I bring my dog?+
Yes — leashed and friendly is all we ask.
Do you carry hash, kief, or shatter?+
Yes — see Concentrates. We carry six brands, all solventless or hydrocarbon.
What’s the safest way to start?+
Low-dose tincture (2.5mg). You can stop sublingual at any moment by swallowing instead of holding. Most predictable onset.
What if I’m on prescriptions?+
Talk to your doctor first. Cannabis can interact with blood thinners, antidepressants, and some anti-anxiety meds.
Can I shop online?+
Yes — order from our menu, pickup ready in 20 min. We don’t ship.
Is cannabis addictive?+
About 9% of users develop dependence (NIDA, 2020). Higher if you start as a teenager. Use it like alcohol — occasionally, intentionally.
